Business Setup Guide

The same path in every country: idea, legal form, name, registration, tax, a bank account, and staying compliant.

The path

Eight steps, then the local filing site

The order is the same. The office that receives the form is not. Use the country blocks below for the official link.

  1. Step 1

    Choose the offer

Name the problem you solve, who it is for, and why they would pay.

  2. Step 2

    Check the market

Look at who already sells it, what they charge, and whether people want it where you are.

  3. Step 3

    Pick a legal form

A sole trader, a partnership, or a company. The right form depends on the country and on whether you will have co-founders.

  4. Step 4

    Choose a name

Check the public register before you print anything or buy a domain.

  5. Step 5

    Register the business

File with the register or the online company desk for that country.

  6. Step 6

    Register for tax

Get the tax number and, if you will charge tax, the sales-tax registration.

  7. Step 7

    Open a business bank account

Keep company money separate from your own.

  8. Step 8

    Stay compliant

File on time, keep records, and renew anything the register asks you to renew.

By country

At the moment these countries have official links. We are working on more.

These are official public websites. Programmes and forms change, so confirm the current steps on the site before you register or apply.
