The Problem
Finding housing abroad is harder than it should be
Students moving to another city or country often face confusing listings, unclear terms, and uncertainty about who they can trust. Most platforms are not built around student realities, budgets, and timelines.
We saw this gap up close and decided to solve it with a platform dedicated only to students.
Our Journey
From a personal struggle in Italy to a global mission
EdBirds was founded by two friends, Dr. Salman Malik and Shafat Ahmad. Salman moved to Italy for his studies in a PHP program and quickly ran into a major challenge: finding trusted, affordable accommodation built for students.
The search was stressful and full of uncertainty. There were listings everywhere, but very few options that felt reliable, transparent, and student-friendly. That real-life pain made one thing clear: there was a major gap in the market.
Salman reached out to Shafat, and together they started building a focused solution. What began as a personal need became a shared mission: create a platform dedicated to students, make housing discovery safer and simpler, and support students in every stage of their move.
Today, both are working as co-founders to scale this mission globally.
